If you have not already done so, you may also wish to join the state and national party online. There are no dues at the local, state, or national level, although contributions are always welcome.
The Libertarian Party of Illinois has established a goal of affiliating with a local chapter in each of the 102 counties in Illinois. Until this can be achieved, affiliates may represent individuals in a region consisting of several counties. Currently CCLP represents not only Champaign, but Clark, Douglas, Edgar, Ford, McLean, Piatt, and Vermilion counties. Individuals in other counties may find CCLP is the closest affiliate to them as well. A complete listing of affiliates is available from the state party. If you are interested in starting a new affiliate in the region please feel free to contact us or the state party. We can provide a source of experience in setting up your new chapter.
Meetings are generally held the second Thursday of every month at 7PM in the Urbana Free Library Auditorium. Meetings generally include a guest speaker, socializing, and general business. Refreshments are typically served. From time to time we hold social events, watch movies, or participate in other activities. New members are always welcome. If you have an idea for a speaker or event, please let us know.
As a smaller political party, there are often opportunities for ordinary Libertarians to participate in events at the state or national level, such as selection of the Presidential candidate at the National Convention. If you are interested in attending such events, please contact the Chair.
If you are interested in running for office, serving as an appointed official, launching a referenda campaign, or engaging in legislative activity please get in touch. We are also always eager to hear from any libertarian-minded people we are not aware of who are already running or in office so we can better work together.
Donations are gladly accepted to offset or general operating expenses for items such as brochures and mailings. To make a donation please come to a meeting or send us a check. Make your check payable to the Champaign County Libertarian Party. There is no limit on the amount you may donate.
The state and national parties currently accept donations online. We hope to add this capability shortly.
